The Department of Politics offers undergraduates a bachelor of arts degree with specialized concentrations in American government, political theory, and world politics. A unique pre-law program is also available for undergraduates. Nearly all undergraduates complete internships on Capitol Hill, in the executive branch, with area courts and law firms, with Washington’s many “think-tanks,” with governmental agencies, and through our study abroad program at the English and Irish parliaments.
For graduate students, the doctorate and master’s degrees are offered in American government, political theory, and world politics. Off-campus MA programs are offered on Capitol Hill in Congressional Studies and at the Pentagon in International Affairs. A joint program is offered in political economy with the Department of Economics. Qualified students may also complete a joint JD/MA with Columbus School of Law. Our Washington location enables great opportunities for careers in politics, foreign service, law, government, public policy, and academia.
