CUA Biology Department launches MS in Biotechnology ProgramThe Department of Biology launches a new Master of Science degree in Biotechnology.

CUA’s Department of Biology launches its new M.S. degree in Biotechnology, with recruitment underway for the first cohort of students to enter in Fall 2010. The program will take advantage of CUA’s location in the 4th largest concentration of biotechnology companies in the USA, with internships at private firms, federal agencies, and research institutions. Dr. Frank Portugal has just joined CUA as the Director of the Biotechnology Program. For more information: http://biotechnology.cua.edu 

Department of Education receives Better Way Foundation grant
The Better Way Foundation, part of the Opus Philanthropy Group, has awarded $50,000 to CUA to develop a model MA program in early childhood education and special education that prepares teachers to serve young children with special needs from low-income, multicultural families. The project will also increase interdisciplinary collaboration within CUA and create a comprehensive partnership with DC Bilingual Public Charter School and other programs at CentroNia, a community-based program that serves over 3,000 families annually. The project will be led by Drs. Shavaun Wall and Carole Brown from the Department of Education, with input from Dr. Sandra Barrueco of the Psychology Department and Dr. Lynn Milgram Mayer of NCSSS.
 

 

Calculus Cafe

The Department of Mathematics is pleased to announce its new "Calculus Cafe", a resource for all current CUA calculus students. The Cafe will offer informal assistance (distinct from tutorials and lectures) together with coffee, tea and snacks twice a week during the semester.
